Task

Your task is to become familiar with various aspects of colonial life and record your findings in the form articles and “extras” in your original colonial newspaper.

Working in cooperative groups, you will prepare an informative and creative newspaper using a template made in Microsoft Word.

Steps

      1. Form a group of 4 members with whom you can work cooperatively.
      2. Select the year between 1700-1780 that you will be reporting from.
      3. Assign roles. Each member of the group becomes a “reporter” whose job is to research a different topic. Each reporter is responsible for creating one feature article and one “extra.” (See “Process” for details.)
      4. Use various resources listed on “Resources” page and available in the media center to gather information. Take notes—remember to paraphrase!
      5. Write rough draft of article. Use the facts you retrieved, and be creative!
      6. Type up your article.
      7. Create your “extra.”
      8. Prepare final copies of all pages and put your newspaper together by inserting articles and extras into the Colonial Newspaper Template.
